Less busy work, more team work.

Working Together

~4 min read

Our team, workflow and design process have been shaped by our many years of working under the rigorous demands and high-standards of fast-growing tech startups.

What to expect

A lil’ OCD,
A lil’ Rock’n’roll.

A Modern Practice

Our team is organized into small, interdisciplinary pods, allowing us to work in an agile & efficient manner. This model fosters a collaborative culture designed to scale and work in accordance with what organizations need today. By merging our expertise with that of our clients, we form highly specialized partnerships.

Team Structure

A fluid team approach allows us to bring together the best designers, developers and collaborators in the world. This model has helped our team scale to 40+ staff for larger builds, while offering nimble teams of two to support more simple builds. In result, you avoid working with a bloated agency that is slowed down by hierarchies, and where high over head costs are transferred to you through your project. Our team is nimble, flexible & capable of delivering highly complex projects in record time.

Work over Presentations

Death by powerpoint has no place at Harley Oliver. We have a deep respect for your time, so you can expect to see fewer presentations and more actual work. We believe in check ins and collaborative reviews over investing excessive hours in creating one-off presentations.

Management & Workflow

How we keep it all on track and on time!

Project Management

To plan, track, manage and ship products, we use Agile and Waterfall models alongside complementary management software, such as Asana (for agile software development), Slack (for communications), Harvest (for time tracking) and cloud-based tools such as Google Suite (for documentation/file management). These tools are scalable, easy to adopt and keeps work collaborative, organized, and progressive.

Note: Using Google Suite, Slack and Figma dramatically increases efficiency, clarity and effectiveness of the work. Changing these workflows and preferred methods may have an impact on our budget/estimate.

Pro-tools & Software

When applicable, we establish design systems, creative direction and modern brand guides using various professional tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and other pro-tool software. These systems and guides help empower your organization, maintaining design integrity throughout the project and future iterations.

Feedback & Approvals

Collecting feedback from key stakeholders is essential to the success of any project. Our workflow puts feedback & collaboration at its core, allowing all stakeholders to perform a thorough review & provide feedback at the end of every phase of the project. Proposed revisions are logged, approved, and implemented, closing the feedback loop. This process ensures changes are implemented efficiently, without wasting time and budget, and preventing continuous, never-ending review cycles.

Scope Changes & Add-ons

Like all great ideas, projects evolve. To keep things simple, for all additional scope add-ons during an active project, we will create a new work order, paid 100% upfront. This helps keep things streamlined during a project.

Support

Supporting your build after launch.

Training & Manuals

One of the major benefits of our website builds is that we typically integrate a Content Management System (CMS), allowing your team to take over content management post-launch. This allows you to make changes and add content to your site without an expensive development team.

When applicable, we will schedule a virtual training session focused on custom administrative features and ensuring your team is knowledgeable on how to use your CMS post go-live. We will share any documentation and manuals as available/required.

Ongoing Support

Depending on your unique requirements, we may suggest managing your ongoing system maintenance on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis. We value your partnership and want to see you succeed, so we can also be available on retainer-basis to support your ongoing needs as your business & website evolves.
